I like to keep all my designs simple and to the point, as I believe less is more

For every site, I design I try and keep the design clean, easy to read, and looking aesthetically professional. I achieve this by creating consistent elements such as call-to-action buttons, section tiles and image sizes, as well as a good amount of white space throughout to help ease the eye of the user and not overload their brains with animated text, imagery or things that could distract them from the task in hand. This helps the developer create the elements quickly and effectivly while providing optimum user experience for the user as they will always find consistent styling across the site.

what techniques do i use to make things simple?

Simple UI

Consistent UI Elements
Consistent UI is at the forefront of any designer's mind because if done incorrectly, can cause dialog between the designer and developer to understand what is the correct size of an element in the design. While some developers can use their intuition to spot inconsistencies within a design UI Kit, it is best practice to ensure that all elements are consistent to reduce internal feedback. a key benefit of consistent UI throughout a website is that it corresponds back to the brand guidelines more effectively which in turn helps you and the developer build a site quicker, which can sometimes bring a project under budget and make it more profitable.

White Space

Preventing Cognative load
It might sound obvious but having a lot of white space allows the user to navigate through your site far easier than if you were to cram the website with information. This brings the rule of less is more. This doesn't mean that you leave out crucial information that the user needs to complete the task but encourages you to reformat the information to bite-sized chunks that the user can read and digest without creating cognitive load. Adding clearly defined sections between key information areas will yield the best results for your conversion percentage as well as user satisfaction.

Accessibility

WCAG Complience
To ensure that all my designs are compliment by the latest WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) rules, I have to ensure that I obey all the correct contrast ratios on colours and ensure all text sizes are to a level that are visible to all users that might have a disability. These guidelines are incredibly important when designing websites for charities, government-run or that are going to be used by the general public to access crucial information. The levels of WCAG 2.1 start at level A and move up AAA which tailors the site to be used for users with advanced disabilities such as hard of hearing or visual impairment. One thing to be careful of when creating a fully WCAG website is the cost implications of creating a site to this specification. Increasing the WCAG rating from A to AAA will almost triple the build costs as a lot of areas have to be factored In which takes up a lot of testing and development time.
